In the same week that Chinese celebrations for Dragon Boat Festival took place, the UK celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Nurtur Student Living organised many cultural events to bring the two together for one big celebration.
Students enjoyed Chinese food for lunch, before heading to the outdoor garden space for the Plant-a-Tree ceremony.
In true Princes Charles style, the Nurtur Team led the Treebilee tradition of a beautiful magnolia tree with a little help from residents who wanted a turn with the spade.
In Chinese culture, magnolia trees are said to symbolise purity and nobility, as well as being known for their healing powers.
Our buildings are home to many international students studying in the UK.
The bank holiday celebrations were rounded off with some delicious afternoon tea, including homemade scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream.
