Providing living spaces for students to thrive

Our managing director Mark Robinson explains what goes into making a Fraser Morgan student living scheme.

When we first got into developing student accommodation, naturally we were keen to create a compelling offer that would set us apart from the competition.

The more we researched the market, the more we felt there was something missing from it. Yes, student living developments have got better than they used to be as expectations and technology have changed.

However, we still felt very few developers were going that extra mile to make student accommodations truly inspiring places for young people to live in.

Helping people grow

When describing our student accommodation developments, I often say these are spaces ‘where students live to learn and learn to live’. Of course, our aim is to help them do well academically, but there’s also a strong focus on providing an environment that helps them thrive and grow as individuals.

When we first talked about what our offer would be, we said we wanted our developments to have a hotel-like feel – a warm welcoming place with a touch of luxury. That’s still the case, but it’s about so much more than that too.

Our developments also have a real focus on student wellbeing. Not because we believe students need to be wrapped in cotton wool, but because we want to give them every opportunity to grow as people.

It’s why our developments have inspiring communal areas, such as a games room, cinema room, and outside areas, including a roof terrace and gardens.

Having as many opportunities for social interaction and making new friends is a way to avoid feelings of isolation. Our developments are laid out in such a way to offer that immediacy of interaction when people walk through the door.

Exciting plans for the future

We’re in the process of creating our very own student accommodation management offer to help create a student-facing brand for our future developments. More on that soon.

This will include developing a packed programme of social events, themed activities, and exercise opportunities at our developments, including classes such as yoga and mindfulness.

Having recently completed our Canterbury Hall project in Preston, we’ll soon be starting work on our Nurtur House development in Sheffield.

We also have 10 more schemes in the pipeline in university towns and cities across the UK.

Exciting times lie ahead. Get in touch with us if you’d like to know more about investing in one of our student developments.

Fraser Morgan specialises in the development of quality student living projects aimed at investors. We are able to offer these developments on either a land only basis, or as a turnkey investment. For more information, contact Mark Robinson.
